Skin Abscess

Definition

A skin abscess is a localized collection of pus that forms within the skin tissue, typically resulting from a bacterial infection. It is characterized by a swollen, red, and tender area on the skin surface, often accompanied by pain and warmth. Skin abscesses can occur in various areas of the body and may be caused by factors such as minor skin injuries, blocked hair follicles, or underlying medical conditions.
