Definition

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by the presence of painful, recurrent, and inflamed nodules, abscesses, and sinus tracts in areas with high concentrations of apocrine sweat glands, such as the armpits, groin, and under the breasts. The condition is associated with various factors, including hormonal imbalances, genetics, immune system dysfunction, and lifestyle factors.
