Bartholin's Cyst

Definition

A Bartholin's cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops in one of the Bartholin's glands, located on either side of the vaginal opening. These glands secrete mucus to lubricate the vagina. The cyst forms when the gland's duct becomes blocked, causing the fluid to accumulate. It is usually painless but can become infected and cause discomfort.
