Biography

Yonca Arat, MD, is an ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. She currently serves as chief of oculoplastic surgery.

Dr. Arat manages a wide range of conditions, including eyelid and orbital pathologies, ptosis repair, blepharoplasty, lacrimal surgeries, facial trauma reconstruction, and the treatment of thyroid eye disease in both pediatric and adult patients. Her clinical expertise extends to managing benign tumors and cancers of the eyelids and orbit.

Now a professor of ophthalmology and visual science at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Arat earned her medical degree from Hacettepe University Medical School in Turkey and completed her residency in ophthalmology there. She then pursued an ophthalmology residency and a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. She has written book chapters in oculoplastic surgery, published numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, and given more than 50 presentations at international meetings worldwide.
