Biography
Vivek Parwani, MD, MHA, is a specialist in emergency medicine, currently serving as the medical director of the Yale New Haven Hospital Adult Emergency Department and as section chief of administration for the Department of Emergency Medicine. His leadership ensures efficient and high-quality care within one of the busiest emergency departments in the country.
In addition to his administrative and clinical roles, Dr. Parwani is an associate professor of emergency medicine at Yale School of Medicine, where his research focuses on emergency department throughput and quality measures. His work aims to improve operational efficiency and patient outcomes in high-pressure environments.
Dr. Parwani has spearheaded key initiatives such as the Yale New Haven Hospital Emergency Department’s operational redesign, enhancing patient flow and care delivery. His efforts in healthcare quality improvement, particularly in emergency department operations, have earned him recognition at local, regional, and national levels. He has been instrumental in several quality and safety initiatives, including the management of sepsis protocols.
Committed to fostering the next generation of emergency medicine leaders, Dr. Parwani actively engages in mentorship and teaching, guiding residents and faculty toward greater achievements in patient care, research, and professional development.
Dr. Parwani earned his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center.
