Biography

Stephanie Joyce, MD, specializes in general surgery, trauma, and surgical critical care. She performs minimally invasive surgical procedures using both laparoscopic and robotic approaches, including gallbladder removal and complex hernia repair. Her scope of practice includes elective outpatient general surgery, surgical emergencies, trauma and the care of critically ill patients. She practices at Lawrence + Memorial hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital.

When asked why Dr. Joyce chose surgery, especially trauma/critical care, she said "there is the potential to have a profound positive impact on patients, saving lives whether it's from traumatic injuries to surgical emergencies. Seeing our patients go home to their families gives me such satisfaction. It's this that keeps me coming to work every day." She truly enjoys being able to take care of patients in all arenas of healthcare, from the outpatient setting, in the emergency department and at times the intensive care unit.

Dr. Joyce is an assistant professor of surgery at Yale School of Medicine.
