Reni Butler, MD
Biography
Reni S. Butler, MD, is a radiologist in the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging who works with patients at the Breast Center. “The patients are my favorite part of my job,” she says. She specializes in breast imaging, reading 3D mammograms, breast ultrasounds and breast MRIs. Dr. Butler also performs core needle biopsies, a procedure that determines if a tumor is benign or cancerous.
“I am thankful to have the opportunity to meet and provide care for women from so many diverse backgrounds,” says Dr. Butler, who is also an associate professor in the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Butler is a national co-Principal Investigator for a multi-institutional trial of a new technology, opto-acoustic breast imaging. This novel experimental modality aims to improve the accuracy of evaluating breast masses, potentially reducing unnecessary biopsies and detecting additional cancers.
Dr. Butler states, “I am grateful to have the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life by detecting an early breast cancer that can be successfully treated. It is so rewarding to know that the state-of-the-art technology and expertise of our doctors at the Smilow Breast Cancer Center can save lives.”
