Biography
Kristin Curran, PA-C, is a physician assistant for Yale Medicine Rheumatology specializing in the management of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, sjogren’s, myositis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, gout, and other rheumatologic diseases. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology.
“I can remember aspiring to be a practicing clinician since grade school,” Curran says. “I have always had a passion for the practice of medicine and helping others with a tremendous amount of empathy.”
She shifted her focus from Internal Medicine to Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine where she practiced with Yale’s Interstitial Lung Disease Center of Excellence for nearly a decade after a close family contact was diagnosed with chronic lung disease. She treated a range of diseases including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, scleroderma, connective tissue disease and overlap syndromes, sarcoidosis, and occupational-related exposures, including silicosis and asbestosis.
In addition to caring for interstitial lung disease patients, she was a patient support group leader for patients with scleroderma in collaboration with the Scleroderma Foundation and a co-leader for Yale’s Pulmonary Fibrosis support group with support from the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. She was also a sub-investigator on Yale’s clinical trials for patients with IPF, fibrotic ILD and scleroderma.
