Biography

Deepa Camenga, MD, specializes in emergency medicine with a focus on adolescent addiction. She is dedicated to improving the identification and treatment of substance use disorders among youth. She is also the associate director for pediatric programs within the Yale Program in Addiction Medicine, where she provides innovative care, including medication treatment for adolescents with opioid use disorder.

As an associate professor of emergency medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Camenga's research is centered on reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with adolescent substance use. She is particularly interested in developing technology-enhanced interventions to reduce drug use among adolescents and young adults. Her work extends to the Yale DrivSim Lab, where she collaborates on studies examining the neurocognitive aspects of risky driving and substance use among youth. I

n addition to her research, Dr. Camenga is involved in various initiatives, including an addiction medicine teleconsult service for local school-based health centers. Her expertise and commitment to adolescent health have earned her a position on the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Substance Use and Prevention.

Dr. Camenga completed her medical education and residency training at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry and pursued a fellowship in health services research through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program at Yale School of Medicine.
