David G. Hesse, MD
Biography
David G. Hesse, MD, is a urologist who specializes in urologic oncology, male infertility and reproductive health, stone disease, and the management of prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, adrenal, and penile cancers.
Dr. Hesse provides a wide range of clinical services, including minimally invasive robotic surgery, microsurgical procedures like vasectomy and vasectomy reversal, and complex intestinal urinary diversion, a procedure that reroutes urine flow after bladder removal. He also treats conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland; erectile dysfunction; incontinence; kidney disease; and varicocele, which is an enlargement of veins within the scrotum.
As associate professor of urology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Hesse’s research interests focus on prostatectomy, a procedure to remove the prostate gland, and prostatic neoplasms. He has trained numerous urologists nationally on performing robotic prostatectomy, with contributions to several peer-reviewed publications on urological oncology and surgical site infections.
Dr. Hesse earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, completed a surgical internship and residency at New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center, and a fellowship at Cornell Medical College. He has been board-certified by the American Board of Urology since 1993.
