Pediatrics

Biography

David Hersh, MD, PhD, is a pediatric hospitalist who specializes in the care of newborns, infants, children, and adolescents who are admitted to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital.

“Typically, I am the primary attending of record, leading the care of my patients as part of a health care team, as well as coordinating the input of various subspecialty consultants,” Dr. Hersh explains. “My patients may have general pediatric conditions or may require multi-specialty care. I also attend in the Well Baby Nursery on newborns.”

Dr. Hersh says he knew when he started medical school that he was destined to be a pediatrician. “I greatly enjoy helping children and supporting them through illness,” he says. “It is rewarding to know that I've had a positive impact on the lives of my patients and helped them through very difficult circumstances.”

The best part of his job, he says, is working with children of all ages and their families. “The spirit and resilience of young people is amazing to see,” he says. “I enjoy partnering with parents and guardians to provide the best care possible to my patients.”
