Anthony Porto, MD, MPH, MBA, FAAP
Biography
Anthony F. Porto, MD, MPH, is medical director of the Yale Pediatric Celiac Program, and a pediatric gastroenterologist who treats a wide variety of digestive diseases and conditions. “We are in this together,” he tells patients. “It is important to ask as many questions as you have as we figure out the best treatment plan for you and your child.”
Dr. Porto specializes in celiac disease, characterized by an intolerance to gluten, and also has a special interest in infant feeding problems. “I look forward to a day where a child can safely eat out without the worry of accidental exposure to gluten,” he says. “I have always had an interest in nutrition and caring for children. Initially, my interest was in childhood obesity because I had a personal history of obesity. I love teaching children and families about their medical conditions.”
An assistant professor of pediatrics (gastroenterology) at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Porto is also associate clinical chief of the Yale Medicine Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
