Biography

Akhil Khosla, MD specializes in pulmonology and critical care medicine, and cares for patients with critical illness and respiratory conditions. He specializes in treating patients who have illnesses that require an intensive care unit such as respiratory failure and shock, patients who have a pulmonary embolism, and those who have suffered a cardiac arrest. He also evaluates patients in Yale’s Post-Pulmonary Embolism Clinic, a clinic that specializes in treatment of the sequalae of pulmonary embolism.

Dr. Khosla’s research involves studying medical emergencies and their management such as treatment during and after cardiac arrest, management of acute and chronic pulmonary embolism and safety around airway management in critically ill patients. He contributes to clinical trials that aim to identify clinical characteristics in patients following cardiac arrest, as well as trials aimed to identify the optimal treatment for patients who have a pulmonary embolism.

Dr. Akhil Khosla is an assistant professor at Yale School of Medicine section of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He is the Director of the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team and Director of the Rapid Response, Resuscitation and Cardiac Arrest Program for the Yale New Haven Health System.
