Critical Care Anesthesiology

We care for patients in the various intensive care units (ICUs) at Yale New Haven Hospital. Our physicians are board-certified in both anesthesiology and critical care medicine, and many have added qualifications in transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), which uses sound waves to produce pictures of a patient’s heart.

We provide care for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures or major vascular and thoracic surgery, as well as trauma and transplant patients. We perform ventricular assistance device implantations, coronary artery bypass grafting, as well as thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair. In the Medical ICU, we care for a wide spectrum of patients, including those with sepsis, pneumonia, and stroke.
