Urea cycle disorders are a group of inherited metabolic disorders characterized by the deficiency or dysfunction of one of the six enzymes involved in the urea cycle. This leads to an accumulation of ammonia and other toxic substances in the blood, which can cause severe neurological problems, developmental delays, and even death if left untreated.
