Definition

Subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA) is a rare, slow-growing brain tumor that arises from astrocytes, a type of glial cell in the brain. These tumors are typically found near the fluid-filled spaces in the brain and are commonly associated with tuberous sclerosis complex, a genetic disorder that causes benign tumors to grow in various organs.
