Definition

Pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) is a rare hematological disorder characterized by a selective decrease in the production of red blood cells by the bone marrow, leading to anemia. This condition can be either acquired or congenital, and may be associated with various underlying causes, such as autoimmune diseases, viral infections, or exposure to certain medications or toxins.
