Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizure (PNES)
Definition
Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) are episodes that resemble epileptic seizures but are not caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Instead, they are thought to have a psychological origin, often related to stress, trauma, or emotional issues. PNES can manifest with various symptoms similar to those of epileptic seizures, but they do not respond to anti-seizure medications.
