Pressure Ulcer

Definition

A pressure ulcer, also known as a pressure sore or bed sore, is an injury to the skin and underlying tissue caused by prolonged pressure on the skin. Pressure ulcers commonly develop on bony areas of the body, such as the heels, hips, and tailbone, and are more likely to occur in individuals with limited mobility or those who are bedridden.
