Popliteal Cyst, Baker's Cyst
Definition
A popliteal cyst, also known as a Baker's cyst, is a fluid-filled swelling that develops at the back of the knee, in the popliteal fossa. It is caused by an accumulation of synovial fluid, which is produced by the joint lining to lubricate the joint. The cyst may result from various factors, such as knee joint inflammation, arthritis, or injury.
