Definition
Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by the development of noncancerous growths called hamartomatous polyps in the gastrointestinal tract and pigmented spots on the skin, particularly around the mouth, eyes, and nose. The condition increases the risk of developing certain types of cancer, especially in the gastrointestinal tract.
