Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)
Definition
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a medical treatment that uses the peritoneum, a thin membrane lining the abdomen, as a filter to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood in patients with kidney failure. The process involves introducing a dialysis solution into the peritoneal cavity, allowing it to dwell for a specific period, and then draining it out, taking with it the waste products and excess fluid.
