Periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) is a surgical procedure that involves repositioning the acetabulum, or hip socket, to improve hip joint stability and function. This is achieved by cutting the pelvic bone around the acetabulum and rotating it to a more optimal position. PAO is commonly used to treat hip dysplasia and other hip joint abnormalities.
