Neuropathy, ataxia, and retinitis pigmentosa (NARP) syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by a combination of peripheral neuropathy, ataxia, and retinitis pigmentosa. It is caused by mutations in the mitochondrial DNA, leading to impaired energy production in cells and affecting various body systems, particularly the nervous system and vision.
