Microscopic colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition of the colon characterized by watery, non-bloody diarrhea. It is diagnosed through microscopic examination of colon tissue, as the colon appears normal during a colonoscopy. There are two subtypes: collagenous colitis and lymphocytic colitis.
