Definition

Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) is a sexually transmitted bacterial infection caused by the Chlamydia trachomatis bacterium. It primarily affects the lymphatic system and can cause swelling and inflammation in the genital and anal areas. If left untreated, it can lead to complications such as scarring, abscesses, and genital deformities.
