Lariat Procedure

Definition

The Lariat Procedure is a minimally invasive, percutaneous catheter-based technique used to treat atrial fibrillation by closing off the left atrial appendage (LAA) to reduce the risk of stroke. The procedure involves the use of a pre-tied suture loop (Lariat) that is guided over the LAA and tightened, effectively sealing it off and preventing blood clots from forming and traveling to the brain.
