Definition

The laparoscopic whipple procedure, also known as minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy, is a surgical technique used to remove the head of the pancreas, the first part of the small intestine (duodenum), the gallbladder, and the bile duct. This procedure is performed to treat various pancreatic and periampullary diseases, including pancreatic cancer, chronic pancreatitis, and benign tumors.
