Intrahepatic Bile Duct Cancer

Definition

Intrahepatic bile duct cancer, also known as cholangiocarcinoma, is a rare and aggressive type of cancer that originates in the bile ducts within the liver. These ducts are responsible for carrying bile, a fluid that aids in digestion, from the liver to the gallbladder and small intestine. The cancer can cause blockage of bile flow, leading to liver damage and other complications.
