Definition

Inhaled nitric oxide is a medical treatment that involves the administration of nitric oxide gas through a breathing mask or endotracheal tube. It is primarily used to treat respiratory conditions, such as persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), by dilating blood vessels in the lungs and improving oxygenation.
