Goiter
Definition
A goiter is an abnormal growth of the thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of the neck. It can occur due to various causes, such as iodine deficiency, inflammation, or the presence of nodules. Goiters can be associated with hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, or normal thyroid function.
