Enchondroma

Definition

Enchondroma is a benign cartilage-forming tumor that develops within the bone marrow cavity. It is characterized by the growth of mature hyaline cartilage and can occur in any bone, but most commonly affects the small bones of the hands and feet. Enchondromas are usually asymptomatic but may cause pain, swelling, or fractures if they grow large or weaken the affected bone.
