Ectopic Pancreas, Pancreatic Rest

Definition

Ectopic pancreas, also known as pancreatic rest, is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by the presence of pancreatic tissue outside its normal location within the gastrointestinal tract. This ectopic tissue is usually found in the stomach, duodenum, or jejunum and can cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or gastrointestinal bleeding if the tissue becomes inflamed or obstructs passage through the gastrointestinal tract.
