Dopamine Responsive Dystonia

Definition

Dopamine responsive dystonia (DRD) is a rare neurological disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions, tremor, and abnormal postures. It is caused by a deficiency of dopamine, a neurotransmitter involved in muscle movement and coordination. DRD typically presents in early childhood and can be effectively treated with medications that increase dopamine levels in the brain.
