Diffuse Astrocytoma
Definition
Diffuse astrocytoma is a slow-growing type of brain tumor that originates from astrocytes, a type of glial cell found in the central nervous system. These tumors are characterized by their diffuse infiltration into the surrounding brain tissue, making them challenging to completely remove surgically. Diffuse astrocytomas are classified as grade II tumors according to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification system.
