Depo-Provera Injection
Definition
Depo-Provera injection is a long-acting, reversible hormonal contraceptive method that involves the administration of a synthetic hormone called medroxyprogesterone acetate. It is injected into the muscle, typically in the upper arm or buttocks, every 12 weeks to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, thickening cervical mucus, and thinning the uterine lining.
