Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP)
Definition
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), also known as demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy, is a rare neurological disorder characterized by progressive weakness and impaired sensory function in the legs and arms. It is caused by damage to the myelin sheath, which is the protective covering of the nerves. This damage leads to slow nerve conduction and results in muscle weakness, numbness, and other symptoms.
