Chorioretinal Coloboma

Definition

Chorioretinal coloboma is a congenital eye condition characterized by a gap or defect in the retina and choroid layers of the eye. This results from incomplete closure of the embryonic fissure during fetal development, leading to a range of visual impairments, including reduced visual acuity, field defects, and retinal detachment.
