Cat scratch disease, also known as cat scratch fever, is a bacterial infection caused by Bartonella henselae. It is transmitted to humans through scratches or bites from infected cats, or contact with their saliva on broken skin or mucous membranes. The infection typically results in localized swelling and inflammation at the site of the scratch or bite and may be accompanied by fever, fatigue, and swollen lymph nodes.
