Cardioversion is a medical procedure used to restore a normal heart rhythm in individuals experiencing abnormal or irregular heartbeats, such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, or ventricular tachycardia. It can be performed using medications (pharmacologic cardioversion) or by delivering a controlled electric shock to the heart (electrical cardioversion).
