Cafe au lait spots are flat, pigmented birthmarks with a light brown color, resembling the color of coffee with milk. They can vary in size and shape and are usually harmless. However, multiple cafe au lait spots may be associated with certain genetic disorders, such as neurofibromatosis or McCune-Albright syndrome.
