Blue nevi are benign pigmented skin lesions characterized by the presence of blue or blue-black spots on the skin. They are formed by the accumulation of melanocytes, the pigment-producing cells, in the dermis layer of the skin. Blue nevi are usually harmless and do not require treatment unless they change in appearance or cause discomfort.
