AV Node Ablation

Definition

AV node ablation is a medical procedure that involves the intentional destruction of the atrioventricular (AV) node, a small area of specialized tissue responsible for conducting electrical impulses between the atria and ventricles of the heart. This procedure is typically performed to treat certain types of abnormal heart rhythms, such as atrial fibrillation, when other treatments have been unsuccessful.
