Autonomic Dysreflexia
Definition
Autonomic dysreflexia is a potentially life-threatening medical condition characterized by an overreaction of the autonomic nervous system to stimuli, resulting in a sudden and dangerous increase in blood pressure and heart rate. It is commonly seen in individuals with spinal cord injuries at or above the T6 level and can be triggered by various factors, such as bladder or bowel distension, and skin irritation.
