Anorectal Abscess

Definition

An anorectal abscess is a localized infection in the perianal or rectal region, characterized by the formation of a pus-filled cavity. It results from an obstruction and subsequent infection of anal glands, leading to inflammation and swelling. Anorectal abscesses can cause significant pain and discomfort and may require surgical intervention for treatment.
