Anal Fistula Plug

Definition

An anal fistula plug is a medical device made of biocompatible material, such as porcine small intestinal submucosa, used to treat anal fistulas. An anal fistula is an abnormal tunnel connecting the anal canal to the skin near the anus. The plug is inserted into the fistula tract and promotes tissue growth, ultimately closing the fistula.
