Definition

Amniotic band syndrome, also known as constriction ring syndrome, is a rare congenital disorder characterized by the entrapment of fetal parts, typically limbs or digits, by fibrous amniotic bands in utero. This can result in constriction, swelling, and even amputation of the affected body part.
